Bastrop High School
Bastrop ISD · the Bears · Bastrop Erhard Stadium
The county's oldest football programme, and the one most people mean when they say the Bastrop game.
Four public districts serve Bastrop County, plus a charter, a handful of independent schools and a community college campus. Which district a house sits in is one of the two or three things that actually decides where a family buys here, so it is worth knowing where the lines fall — and it is football season.
Five schools in this county play football, and between Bastrop and Cedar Creek there is a real rivalry inside a single district — two high schools, one town's worth of families, one fixture everybody has an opinion about.
Our sister site Texas Friday Nights is where we write about the sport at large: the show that made Texas high school football legible to the rest of the country, the reunion, the cast, and the rankings.
Team names are given only where the school's own website confirms them. Cedar Creek and Smithville render their sites in JavaScript and did not, so those two are left blank rather than filled in from memory.

Bastrop ISD
Bastrop ISD's second high school, and the other half of the county's sharpest rivalry.
Elgin ISD · the Wildcats
Elgin's programme, and the closest thing the north of the county has to a Friday night institution.
Smithville ISD · Tiger Stadium
Plays at a ground OpenStreetMap records as Tiger Stadium, on the south-eastern side of the county.
McDade ISD · the Bulldogs · McDade Bulldog Field
Six-man football, which is its own sport and worth seeing once if you never have. The whole town turns out.

Nothing matches that. Try fewer words, or tell us what is missing.
The county's largest district by a wide margin, covering Bastrop, Cedar Creek, Red Rock and a good deal of the land between them. Two high schools, which is unusual for a county this size and the reason Bastrop and Cedar Creek are a genuine local rivalry.
Serves Elgin and the north of the county. Growing quickly - Trinity Ranch Elementary is the newest campus on this list.
Smithville and the south-east of the county, from Brown Primary through to Smithville High.
One of the smallest districts in Central Texas, and a single campus serving McDade. Small enough to play six-man football.
Open-enrolment public charter, no district boundary to live inside.
These campuses are in the county but carry no website or operator tag we could use to place them, and we would rather say so than guess.
Calvary Episcopal School — Bastrop Independent, Episcopal.
Good Shepherd Lutheran School — Bastrop Independent, Lutheran.
Greenbriar School — Bastrop Independent.
Founders Classical Academy of Bastrop — Bastrop Classical charter.
Austin Community College – Elgin Campus — Elgin Two-year college, and the county's main route to a degree without driving to Austin.
Texas State Technical College — Williamson Technical and trade programmes; the nearest campus is outside the county but it is where a lot of local trades train.
OpenStreetMap records 15 19th and early 20th century schoolhouses across this county, most of them at crossroads that no longer have anything else. They are tagged the same way a live campus is, so they are separated out here — nobody attends these. As a list of where the county used to gather, though, it is hard to beat.
District boundaries do not follow city limits here, and a Bastrop mailing address does not guarantee a Bastrop ISD campus. Confirm the attendance zone with the district before signing anything — every district on this page publishes a boundary lookup, and the agents on Bastrop Realty deal with this question daily.
Campus names, locations and websites come from OpenStreetMap contributors filtered to the Bastrop County boundary. Each campus is placed with its district by the domain of its own website rather than by its name. Districts and schools are the authority on their own information — where this page and a district disagree, the district is right. Something wrong or missing? wholetechtexas@gmail.com.
Lost Pines Guide is not affiliated with any school district. 30 campuses mapped, 15 historic schoolhouses recorded separately.
